Tonight, August 10th, we are excited to have the honor of hosting Donna Morris--Owner of Winderlea Vineyards, for a Wine Takeover at the restaurant this evening. She will be featuring many of her wines, pouring samples, and speaking about her vineyard.
Winderlea Chardonnay comes from the Carabella, Hyland & Thistle vineyards sites. The wine spends 10 months in oak aging of which only 17% is new. The wine has amazing fruit forward aromatics and with the careful hand of oak as it is beautifully balanced and expressive.
2013 Dundee Hills
Winderlea Dundee Hills Pinot Noir comes from the Maresh, Murto, Weber vineyard sites. A bright ruby red color this wine shows great red fruit cherries, strawberries, and cranberries on the nose and follows through on the palate. It's aged 10 months in oak with 10% being new.
013 Meredith Mitchell Pinot Noir
We are very excited to share what's perhaps one of Winderleas most interesting wine coming from the Yamhill - Carlton AVA in Oregon. Owned by Susan Meredith and her husband Frank Mitchell, this vineyard southwest of the city of McMinnville was planted in 1988 and has expanded to 25 acres over the years. Rated one of the top 5 vineyards in Oregon for good reason, the combination of own-rooted, mature vines and shallow, rocky, broken basalt and sedimentary soil consistently produces intense fruit with complex layers of aroma, flavor and structure.
2012 Winderlea Pinot Noir
Farming practices have focused on reducing yields and improving canopy efficiency resulting in improved fruit and wine quality. The higher elevation 480 to 570 feet of the vineyards sites gives the perfect conditions for Pinot Noir. The vineyard is known for its red fruit characteristics, especially dried red cherry and red raspberry. It also produces a hint of spice and vanilla and is recognized for its true violet nose. They are the elegant, sensuous, feminine and balanced wines.
We hope that you will join us this evening for this very special event!
